Valerie Salt
Acupuncturist & Naturopath, based in Bristol
After graduating from the University of Bristol with a Maths degree, I became a Chartered Tax Advisor. Long hours and a stressful work environment were getting me down, and I was toying with a career change.
At this stage, we’d been trying to conceive for a year. My GP said that my test results were all normal and that we should book a “big holiday” and it would probably happen. It didn’t.
Back at work, tense and unhappy, I booked some acupuncture as a friend had heard it had helped someone else with fertility problems. After a few sessions, I had more energy than I’d had in years, my mood was better, my digestion was better, and I felt really well. I conceived a few months later and continued acupuncture throughout my first pregnancy.
Though generally happier in my life, a career change was overdue. I spent four years training as an acupuncturist before finishing my studies in 2017 – just a few days before I had my second child, conceived with no issues.
During maternity leave, I created my first website, found a perfect therapy room, and started seeing my first patients. Since then, I’ve helped my patients manage complex fertility cases and have eased their symptoms related to pregnancy, periods and perimenopause.
My patients say I’m approachable, empathetic, gentle and kind. I consider it a privilege to accompany them on their fertility journey or help them ease life-limiting, painful or distressing hormone-related conditions.
A fully insured member of the British Acupuncture Council and the Association of Naturopathic Practitioners, I am licensed by Bristol City Council and South Gloucestershire Council to provide acupuncture.
